Practice Groups and Times
Most new swimmers will be placed into one of the three practice groups below based on their age when the season begins.
Ages 5 - 8
Practice begins October 5th
Monday - Friday
5:30 - 6:30pm
Ages 9 - 12
Practice begins October 5th
Monday - Friday
5:30 - 6:30pm
Ages 13+
Practice begins September 8th
Monday - Friday
4:00 - 5:30pm or 6:30 - 8:00pm
Saturday (Optional)
8:00 - 10:00am
Required Memberships and Registrations
DCST Swim Team Members need to be registered Kishwaukee Family YMCA members, must be registered as athletes with USA Swimming, and must register for their practice group through the team portal. More information on these requirements can be found in the Team Handbook under Required Memberships.

Notes / Troubleshooting
- If your account ends up with duplicate athletes, please contact your coach so the duplicate can be removed
- If the practice groups such as New Swimmer, Terriers, Labradors, etc. are disabled, you need to add the registration fee
USA Swimming
All swimmers must be registered athletes with USA Swimming. A parent must make a separate free parent USA Swimming account for themselves using the USA Swimming Team Link. Once a parent account has been created, click on Register Member to add your swimmer. Once your swimmer is registered, their membership number can be entered in Captyn. You will not have to do this a second time, all renewals will run through Captyn.
Notes / Troubleshooting
- If you create your parent account but cannot find the Register Member button, go back to the Team Link again, that splash page is the only place to add a new member to your account and associate it with DCST.
Practice Location
The Kishwaukee Family YMCA's Bickner Aquatic Center Pool is an 8 lane 25-yard competition pool with starting blocks in 7 feet of water at both ends.
