DCST Inaugural Red Vs. Black Championship
We have decided to create an exciting opportunity to establish a new DCST tradition: the inaugural Red vs. Black Intrasquad Meet!
Our intention is to make this an annual event that kicks off each short-course season, bringing together swimmers of all ages and abilities for spirited competition, team camaraderie, and Halloween fun!
Saturday, October 17, 2026
Kishwaukee Family YMCA – Bickner Aquatic Center
Meet Day Schedule
Doors Open: 8:00 a.m.
Warm-Ups: 8:30–9:30 a.m.
Meet Starts: 10:00 a.m.
Meet Declarations & Team Draft
Meet declarations open Monday morning, October 12, and close Thursday afternoon, October 15.
All swimmers, regardless of age or ability, are strongly encouraged to participate! If you have previously signed up for the Tri Meet, we will assume you are available for the Intrasquad meet.
Important: Families are simply declaring their swimmer's availability for the meet. You do NOT need to select any individual events. Our coaching staff will determine event assignments after declarations have closed.
Unlike our traditional intrasquad meets, all declared swimmers will be placed into a draft pool. On Thursday evening, October 15, our coaches will draft two balanced teams — Team Donny (Red) and Team Michelle (Black) — representing swimmers from across the entire program.
Official team rosters will be announced Friday, October 16. Families do not select a team when declaring; assignments will be determined through the draft.
Halloween Fun & Prizes!
We're keeping the Halloween theme, music, team introductions, and special activities from our original meet plans!
Swimmers and families are encouraged to wear costumes. We'll have special costume recognition and prizes, plenty of Red vs. Black team spirit, and awards for the winning team!
Parents — We Need Your Help!
This meet will also serve as an important trial run for our upcoming Pilgrim Plunge Invitational. We'll be testing our timing systems, scoreboard, officiating, meet management, and volunteer operations.
All available parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer for an essential meet position. No experience? No problem! This is an excellent opportunity to learn alongside our experienced volunteers before Pilgrim Plunge.
We're also introducing our new volunteer credit program outlined in the DCST Handbook. Three qualifying volunteer sessions can earn credit toward one individual one-on-one coaching session for your swimmer!
The Pilgrim Plunge will require all hands on deck, and this is our opportunity to get our home-meet season off to a great start.
Remember: Declarations open Monday morning and close Thursday afternoon. No event selections are necessary! The team draft is Thursday evening, with rosters announced Friday!
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing everyone at the inaugural Red vs. Black Meet!
