DCST Takes Second in Triangular by One Point

DCST Takes Second in Triangular by One Point

DCST finished second, one point behind host Rockford, in a triangular meet which also included Freeport.  DCST scored 566 points compared to Rockford’s 567 and Freeport’s 70.  DCST’s dual meet record is now 4 – 1 on the season.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Maura Fisers, age 6, and Andrew Tatum, age 9, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

As a team, DCST had 92 new career best individual times out of 187 swims for a 49% improvement rate.  DCST had 30 swimmers who had at least two personal best times in the meet. These swimmers were: Madison Aimone, Katherine Albano, Ty Ament, Camryn Anderson, Austin Bockman, Timothy Braun, Joanna Burnham, Sadie Burton, Krissy Cutsinger, Phillip Cutsinger, Madi DeRaedt, Alyssa Ferrigan, Erin Fidler, Maura Fisers, Madisyn Grever, Georgia Harrelson, Daniel Hein, Ethan Heinrich, Abbie Johnson, Liam Joyce, Cokie LeBlanc, Mel LeBlanc, Joe Luetkehans, Madelyn Maxwell, Rachel Maxwell, Flavi Michelini, Mason Miller, Abby Pardridge, Amber Reynolds and Andrew Tatum.

DCST has two USA Meets coming up in the next three weeks.  DCST will be swimming at Pleasant Prairie, WI on November 18 – 20, and the team will be competing at Woodstock on December 2 – 4.

The next meet for DCST’s full team is our Barb Wire Invitational on Saturday, December 10.  Everyone is highly encouraged to attend this event.  For our rookies, this will be their first chance at swimming in an invitational.  With a 4 week break between meets, the DCST Coaching Staff is expecting many big time drops at this meet.  Swimmers who have yet to swim a legal breaststroke or butterfly swim in a meet are highly encouraged to use this time period to make their strokes legal in these events.  The coaching staff would like to have as many of these swimmers swim their first legal swims in these events at the Barb Wire.
