A severely outmanned DCST lost its first meet of the season to
Leaning Tower. DCST only had 41
swimmers participate in the meet compared to Leaning Tower’s
133 swimmers. This huge swimmer
advantage showed up in Leaning Tower’s 420.5 – 259.5
scoring advantage.
On the positive side, the swimmers who did
attend the meet performed extremely well. Eighteen of DCST’s 41 swimmers had at least
two career best times out of three total swims. These swimmers were:
Dillon Anderson, Austin Bockman, Sadie Burton, Josh DeDina, Mikaila
DiCostanzo, Grace Fergus, Nolan Fergus, Shane Fergus, Alyssa
Ferrigan, Erin Fidler, Matthew Marchewka, Caitlynn Moon, Cole Moon,
Collin Moon, Sarah Robertson, Elissa Roose and Amal Tatum.
After each meet, the coaching
staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big
Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their
performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into
consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic,
team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Elissa Roose,
age 9, and Nolan Fergus, age 8, were selected as Big Dogs of the
meet. DCST is now 9 – 1 on the
season. DCST’s next meet is on
February 6 at home against Oak Park.
