DCST Swimmers Excel during Girls High School Season

DCST would like to welcome back many of our high school aged girl swimmers who will be swimming in their first meet of the season for DCST in the Barb Wire Classic this Saturday.  These girls just finished a very successful girl’s high school season.  On our website under the tab “DCST News,” there are numerous links to newspaper articles about their seasons.  Listed below are some of the highlights of the sectional and state swimmers from DCST.

DeKalb / Sycamore Co-op – All 9 girls on the DeKalb / Sycamore Sectional team are DCST swimmers (Natalie Carlson, Naomi Cruz, Alex Dewitt, Tara Gidaszewski, Casey Jepsen, Molly Olson, Nicole Pearcy, Carly Primrose and Grace Waller).   As a team, they finished 4th at the St. Charles Sectional Meet.  Casey qualified for the IHSA State Meet in both the 100 and 200 yard Freestyle events.

Rosary – DCST swimmer, Emily Launer, was a part of the IHSA State Championship Team.  Personally in the State Championship Meet, she finished 3rd in the 500 yard Freestyle and 9th in the 200 yard Freestyle.  She was also a member of Rosary’s 2nd place 400 Freestyle Relay.

Sandwich (Sharron Isola and Jessica Lauzon) and Plano (Katie Hallenbeck) – Sandwich and Plano do not officially have high school girls teams, so Sharron, Jessica and Katie trained with DCST this fall and represented their schools at the sectional championships.  All three swimmers represented their school extremely well.  Sharron’s 100 yard butterfly time at this meet was her first national qualifying time for this winter’s meet.
